So you want a Doodle we are so excited that you do because we are committed to providing the perfect puppy for each home we work with! Lets talk about what you need to know!

Why do you want a Doodle? Usually, it is because they make wonderful family pets or because they are just the cutest! So, let’s talk about both starting with COAT MAINTENANCE!

  1. We strive for an easily maintained coat but that doesn't mean no maintenance! so many dog breeds need to be groomed and maintained and a doodle is definitely one in that family!

  2. I recommend first contact doodle friendly groomers and talk about maintenance and cost!

  3. Be prepared to brush your dog starting when you bring them home! Get your puppy used to brushing early. We work on this, but it has to be done routinely to prepare your puppy for grooming and the groomer. Note: I found out from a few people that a groomer will charge more for unmaintained dogs as they should because it takes a lot more time do groom properly, or they have to be shaved and that is a headache.

  4. Puppy coat, anywhere from 6-12 months your puppy will shed its soft straighter puppy coat and in come those beautiful curls, or they may keep a straight coat and have a wave from furnishings. I am dedicated to hypoallergenic coats using genetic testing of parents, but I like to warn families about the shedding process of losing puppy coat because all of a sudden you will see a change, don’t worry it doesn’t last long.

  5. If you want to keep that teddy bear look, I highly suggest investing in a force dryer, you can find them on Amazon. To help with my daily maintenance that I sometimes can’t keep up with the best! Life happens so here is a tip, I bath my dogs weekly, blow dry them with the force dryer & line brush them! this straighten the coat that I promise will curl right back up to those beautiful locks if your dog is curly. I use metal comb to check for any tangles around the ears especially but this allows the coat to be longer. Depending on your activity level you may only need to bath 1-2 a month. We are just very active. Your dedication to bathing and blow drying will make a huge difference for your dog and your groomer. You can fluff your doggies coat with a slicker brush as often as you like and it’s a great cuddle activity. Keep a schedule with a groomer for a better wash, haircuts, shaping, paw pads, & ear hair and you should be able to keep your teddy bear look!

  6. Coat Type: This makes a big difference. Double Curl & Fully furnished is the genetic coat of a Poodle. We breed for easier maintenance but also love Straight- Curly Coats. When we pair parents so many things are taken into consideration and we are able to tell you what type of coat a puppy will have from parents genetic testing and most of our Puppies will come with Embarks panels complete or a genetic coat panel.

  7. You can always keep a much shorter coat cut! I get it, that long luxurious coat on a Doodle is so appealing, but I promise those short cuts are just as cute just talk about what you want with your groomer! Show them pictures and they can guide you on at home maintenance and grooming schedule. I also help our families with grooming so feel free to reach out for help and tips.

The list below has combs and brushes for puppy and dog. Make sure your puppy slicker brush has the soft tops on the teeth, their skin isn’t strong enough for a regular slicker brush yet. It also has the force dryer I use, it’s an investment but it can save you a lot of time and money to wash and force dry your dog!

Again we use genetic testing to obtain a more manageable coat, when a parent dog carries a shedding gene we will usually genetic test the litter to see what puppies inherited this gene. We don’t like to guess we like to use science to know. That being said we have Kai who has a unique gene if you love the look of a curly coat with easier maintenance ask about his planned litter.

Something I want to stress to anyone considering one of our puppies, I want families to know if they ever have questions the next day or years down the road I’m here for questions and concerns! Don’t ever think we just take your money hand you a puppy and we aren’t here for you. I am heartbroken to see so many questions online that a breeder should be answering, this may not be the breeders’ fault either maybe the family doesn’t know to ask the breeder first. We are here for the life of your pet, and we will be here if you ever want another furbaby because if this is your first be prepared for addiction!

Our dogs are absolutely phenomenal, they are wonderful family members and I have never had to worry about them ever doing any little thing to hurt my children or each other! I get stopped by tons of people that are so impressed with behavior. I take one at a time out to dog friendly businesses, always testing our parent dogs social skills. Our dogs are wonderful in public & in the home, we pay close attention to temperament in all settings. Stability is so important in a parent dog, we only breed parents that are well rounded and socialize parents and puppies. This helps keep puppies in the home they are placed in. Picking parents is such a difficult balancing act as a breeder especially when our goal is to produce puppies that have high tolerance to touch and sound, this is huge for puppy placement in homes with children. The cross of Poodle and Golden Retriever or Labrador is such an amazing mix for temperament but just like humans not everyone from the same parents inherits all the same traits. We understand this & pull puppies based on our observations from birth and tract them until maturity. We love all the fun colors, but our goal is producing dogs that are excellent temperament and health. So you can have the loving dog that is loyal and fun to be with, on your lap and next to your kids making memories.

We absolutely love our dogs and I fall in love with all of our puppies being with them day and night. I promise I wouldn’t place a puppy with a family that I felt like that puppy wasn’t the right fit for any reason. This is why we are so picky about our parent dogs, but to make sure we place in the best home for the family and puppy we do our puppy picks and 7 weeks of age. This may seem silly but let me explain. For me as a dedicated breeder that is constantly bettering our lines I need the first 7 weeks to observe my puppies to make my best choice on who will join our program as a prospect. This doesn’t mean I’m taking the best puppy, I am looking to pull a puppy to balance out another dog I have in our program. The beauty of this is I am constantly taking notes and observing things like touch tolerance, prey drive, sound sensitivity, confidence, problem solving ability, retrieval, human focus, assertiveness and so on. I know what my families are looking for and I can be that bridge of knowledge for our new homes. This along with Puppy evaluations where we remove the puppy from the comfort of his pack and put him through a series of novice situations as a final test truly helps everyone make the best decision for puppy picks. It is also a wonderful option to be a Forever Guardian home for our program if we are looking for the same traits in a puppy and you think you could be a part of our program lets talk! Other ethical reasons we wait until 7 weeks to allow picks is we understand that nature has its own way of making itself known. We only breed dogs that are fully health tested with well above average scores, we do extensive testing not only genetics but also Eye, Cardiac, blood panels, Hip & elbow x-rays to make sure we are only producing healthy puppies but in the event something is detected by our vet at our well check evaluation we don’t feel it is fair to have a conversation with a family about their options at that point in time. This is highly unlikely but a realistic point of view as a responsible breeder. Having such a limited number of puppies I believe our families appreciate the amount of dedication we put into placement but if you have any questions, please reach out to speak with me further.

Maybe you have just heard that Doodles make the best family pets…. OUR OPINION IS THEY DO!

Another Reason to love Goldendoodles & Labradoodles

I am a sucker for a beautiful structure on a dog. I love balance that allows agility and strength. We fell in love with our labradoodle Mavis because she was not only the best temperament with our children but we could do anything with her, yet still she was a couch potato! As a mother I want a dog that will have a long life that can play with my children and make all the fun memories children and a dog should make. I actually didn’t plan on breeding crosses but before we decided to purchase our first Doodle I did some research on health and longevity. I wanted a dog that could keep up and do all the fun things with ease, I looked at crosses from foundation breeds that have a beautiful structure, I’m sure no one will argue that Poodles, Goldens & Labradors are beautifully built. All breeds have been bred to be active & move with ease. I also looked at the wonderful truth about crossing pure bred dogs with a purpose of creating a healthier offspring. Creating offspring that are genetically diverse lowers problematic issues like canine cancers. Of course when crossing we still must do our do diligence of proper testing and using those tests for pairings that will better our puppies and we feel very strongly about pairing with a purpose. We breed healthy dogs and provide proper exercise and nutrition for long healthy lives because our dogs are our family and we know when your family adds a new puppy they will become a loved member of your family. Every decision we make as a breeder is important so we do our absolute best.

  1. We pair dogs that have wonderful structure doing structure evaluations starting at 5-8 weeks.

  2. Full OFAs these tests are physical exams done by a board certified vets that clear our parents Hearts, Eyes, Elbows, Patella, Thyroid & Hips

  3. Pennhip: we decided to utilize pennhip in our Program. Pennhip is a measurement of laxity in the dogs hip joint. This is a more accurate measurement for the lifetime of the dog. This is how we avoid breeding parents that will develop hip dysplasia this gives us the opportunity to better the health of the offspring born in our program.

  4. Agility: I analyze our dogs movement and ease of movement. We want our puppies to be able to run jump & play without any pain or discomfort.

  5. OFFSWITCH: Yep even when talking about structure we are going to bring in temperament. I want to see that energy level stop when we hit the door and come in the house.

We do so much behind the scenes so you can bring that perfect puppy home, we are here for the life of your dog but we like to remind families that proper care and nutrition is so important. Keeping an ideal weight is so important for joint health. Below are some resources. I highly recommend buying Goldendoodle Love before you purchase a puppy!
